Trinamool Legislator Kunal Ghosh Questions Party’s Organisational Decisions

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress legislator and party spokesman, Kunal Ghosh, on Saturday made a social media post indirectly questioning the decisions adopted at the national working committee meeting of the party held a day before where decisions regarding distribution of organisational portfolio was taken.
In the Friday’s meeting, the decision was taken to retain Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, as the Trinamool Congress’ General Secretary although with the creation of new post of two Deputy General Secretaries, which were allotted to the party’s Rajya Sabha members, Derk O’Brien and Dola Sen.
The decision came as a surprise to the political circles in the state, especially amid the rebellion within Trinamool Congress where most of the rebel leaders have accused Abhishek Banerjee’s corporate-management style of function with total dependence on the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) as the main reason for the party’s landslide defeat in the recently concluded West Bengal Assembly polls.
Although without directly referring to the Friday’s organisational decisions, Kunal Ghosh through his social media post had expressed his frustration over and disagreement with certain decisions of the Trinamool Congress’ leadership.
He began his social media post claiming that being a Trinamool Congress legislator having won with the party symbol granted to him by Mamata Banerjee, he does not the endorse the manner in which some party leaders and legislators betrayed her within a month of the state elections, with the patronage of their opponents for unknown and personal interests.
“However, instead of correcting the party’s mistakes, if mistakes continue at various levels, I cannot turn a blind eye to that. I am listening to the huge number of party workers who are still communicating from different districts of West Bengal. Students and youth are communicating and they are saying many things. We have requested to give them a hearing. I will sit with them. We will see what happens next later,” Ghosh said in the X post.
He also reiterated that although he is still with Mamata Banerjee, he is not endorsing the repeated mistakes made by the Trinamool Congress.
“I am not with betrayal or the betrayers. But I continue with my ears, eyes, brain, heart and mouth open, both inside and outside,” Ghosh said.
