Besides Confessions, Police Building Independent Evidence In Ketan Agarwal Murder Case, Says Pune SP

Pune/New Delhi: The investigation into the alleged murder of Pune businessman’s son Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort continues to deepen, with police saying they are building a complete chain of evidence beyond statements made before law enforcement officials.
Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural, Sandeep Gill, said the probe team is working to ensure that all findings are legally sustainable and independently corroborated.
Sandeep Gill said, “A confession made before the police is not admissible in court. Therefore, we have to independently establish our evidence. We must corroborate the evidence and present it in a logical and legally sustainable manner. Our team is currently working on that. Whatever information we are receiving from the accused, relatives, and also circumstantial evidence, based on what we are proceeding forward…”
The case, which initially appeared to be an accident, has now taken the shape of a premeditated murder investigation. According to police inputs, Ketan Agarwal’s fiancée, Siya Goyal and her alleged partner, Chetan Babulal Chaudhary, are suspected of having conspired in advance to eliminate him during a trip and project his death as an accidental fall from the fort.
Investigators are also examining CCTV footage accessed by NDTV, which reportedly shows Siya Goyal meeting Chaudhary at a cafe in Pune on June 18, where the alleged plan was discussed.
Ketan Agarwal, son of a prominent Pune-based businessman, had been engaged to Siya Goyal in February this year. Both families were preparing for a lavish wedding scheduled for November, which was expected to include high-profile arrangements.
Following the incident at Lohagad Fort, a security guard said he rushed to the spot after hearing screams and was told by Siya Goyal that “someone fell off the fort”. The guard, Dheeraj Jadhav, said he immediately informed police and also heard her shouting “Help, help”.
Police have confirmed that both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are currently in custody. The investigation is ongoing, with officials stating that forensic analysis, CCTV footage, and circumstantial evidence are being used to reconstruct the sequence of events and establish the motive behind the crime.
