As Long As People Want, Oppn Will Have To Hear Amit Shah: BJP’s Nishikant Dubey

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey on Wednesday hit out at the Opposition, particularly Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi, stating that they have to “listen to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s speech as long as the public wants” as he is country’s Home Minister, duly elected by the citizens.

Dubey’s reaction came after Rahul Gandhi told the media earlier in the day, that the Opposition is not interested in Home Minister’s “imagination or lectures”, stating that the young generation wants to know who gave orders to “shoot” at them.

Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament House, Nishikant Dubey said: “He (Amit Shah) is the Home Minister not because of Rahul Gandhi. The people of the country elected Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister, and Modi ji has made Amit Shah as the Home Minister. As long as the people want, they (Opposition) will have to listen to their (PM Modi and Amit Shah’s) speech. They will have to listen to PM Modi and HM Amit Shah.”

Targeting the LoP, he said: “Who is Rahul Gandhi? This is democracy. In this democracy, the people have elected Narendra Modi as Prime Minister for the third time, and the Prime Minister has made Amit Shah, the Home Minister. So, their speech will have to be heard. Who is Rahul Gandhi? Go and ask the people.”

Meanwhile, amid the Opposition’s continued demand for his presence in Parliament, HM Shah on Wednesday said that he was “ready to answer everything” regarding the alleged police action against agitators during the July 20 ‘Sansad Chalo’ march.

Shah also proposed a time frame for the discussion, saying that if the Opposition submitted a letter to the Speaker by 2 p.m., the government was prepared to hold the discussion from 3 p.m. on Wednesday until 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Reacting to Amit Shah’s statement, BJP MP Ravi Kishan said: “Could there be a more beautiful message given to the entire country?…Home Minister Amit Shah is waiting for everyone (Opposition), but they have fled. He is sitting here to give answers and we will sit late into the night. All Opposition members, Rahul Gandhi, you are openly welcome…Our Home Minister is waiting for you to answer all those questions over which you have been beating your chest.”

He added: “The Home Minister is waiting to respond to all the lies and accusations (made by the Opposition), please come. We are inviting all the Opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi ji, Priyanka Gandhi ji, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and everyone who has wasted the tax payers’ money by not allowing the Parliament to function.”

In a warning to the opposition leaders, Kishan further said: “Also, if you don’t come today, then you have to answer to the citizens.”
