Delhi BJP Chief Harsh Malhotra Announces Week-Long I-Day Events From Tomorrow
New Delhi: As part of the celebrations marking India’s 80th Independence Day, the Delhi Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise week-long events, including Tiranga Yatras, city unit president Harsh Malhotra said on Saturday.
He said that as part of the 80th Independence Day Week, starting on August 9 till August 15, various programmes will be organised by the Delhi BJP at the district and mandal levels.
The team headed by State General Secretary Vishnu Mittal will coordinate the Independence Week programmes, he said.
State Vice Presidents Sunil Yadav and Sarika Jain, along with Purvanchal Morcha president Santosh Ojha, will assist convenor Mittal as co-convenors.
The Delhi BJP chief said that the programmes planned between August 9 and 15 shall include cleanliness drives and wreath-laying ceremonies at martyrs’ memorials and Tiranga Yatras.
He said cleanliness drives will be conducted at memorials dedicated to martyrs across Delhi, followed by senior leaders, MPs and other dignitaries paying floral tributes to the statues of the martyrs.
Malhotra said national leaders, local MPs, MLAs, senior office-bearers and Municipal Councillors will lead Tiranga Yatras at the district and mandal levels across Delhi.
Other activities planned by the Delhi BJP include meetings and felicitation of martyrs’ families; observance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on August 14 and Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
Malhotra said along with citizens from across the country, Delhi BJP leaders and workers will reach the Red Fort, participate in the Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and listen to his address.
According to Delhi BJP General Secretary and Convenor of the 80th Independence Day Week Coordination Team, Vishnu Mittal, on August 9, National General Secretary Arun Singh, MPs Yogendra Chandolia and Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Bansuri Swaraj, Minister Ravindra Indraj Singh, MLA Ajay Mahawar, and senior state office-bearers Rajesh Bhatia, Sunil Yadav, Vinod Bacheti, Ranjit Kashyap, Gaurav Khari and Devendra Solanki, among others, will participate in various programmes.
The 80th Independence Day Week will commence on Sunday at 9,30 a.m. with MP Bansuri Swaraj paying floral tribute at the statue of Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya in Malviya Nagar. This will be followed by a Tiranga Yatra from Pilanji Village to Greater Kailash at 10.15 a.m.
